Use Xylitol and Miswak to Help Get Rid of Cavities

Xylitol is a natural sugar substitute that is derived from Birch tree bark. This sugar is non fermentable and non acidic. Xylitol can be used to help strengthen your teeth.

Your teeth are in a constant dynamic process of mineralization and demineralization. When there is a lower pH in your mouth, your teeth start to de-mineralize. This makes them softer. Acid will slowly chew in through the outer portions of your teeth which are mostly inorganic. When they start to go through the Dentyne, it can be quite painful.

If you can strengthen your tooth enamel, it is easy to prevent cavities and tooth decay. Two of the best tools you can use to strengthen your enamel are Xylitol and Miswak.

When sugars come into contact with plaque, it becomes acidic. In order for tooth decay to occur, acids have to be in contact with your teeth for some time. Xylitol helps because it gets rid of harmful bacteria which create harmful plaque.

When it is properly used, Xylitol helps provide your teeth with a healthy balance and can stop tooth decay. Because Xylitol is non-acidic and it is non fermentable, it can’t be turned into an acid by oral bacteria. Xylitol helps your mouth because the bacteria attaches to the Xylitol sugars in your saliva.

In order to be used effectively, Xylitol must be in your mouth for at least 4 to 5 minutes every time you take it. Xylitol must be taken at least 3 times per day. Xylitol draws these bacteria out of your teeth. Rather than being able to convert sugars to acids, these bacteria are neutralized and then eliminated when you swallow your saliva.

The use of Xylitol also increases the amount of saliva you have in your mouth. A safe range for your saliva is above 5.9. Xylitol helps keep your pH from being too acidic. It is a good idea to take Xylitol after you have had dessert, or eaten a meal that contains a lot of processed sugars or flour.

Miswak should be used in conjunction with Xylitol. Miswak is antibacterial. Chewing on a Miswak stick improves circulation, increases saliva in your mouth, and can actually help to remineralize your teeth as well. Miswak is 100% natural. It is derived from a Peelu tree or Olive tree. As you chew on it, it brushes and cleans your teeth. Miswak should be used at lease once a day for 20 minutes.
